Catching Fire Review

WOW! This is one hell of a book to movie adaption. This is a novel written by Suzanne Collins which was published back in 2009.

At the moment in time I am reading Catching Fire and I have to say this is one book to movie adaption that I can say is loyal to the original piece. I found the film very interesting and very fast pacing and I was glued to the screen throughout the movie.

The characters were brought to live once again just like the first one in the series The Hunger Games, which was released in 2012 and was a box office hit.

The movie is about that President Snow wants to punish Katniss for her actions from the previous Hunger Games. While on the victory tour, Katniss and Peeta find out that districts are starting to rebel against the capital. President Snow changes things for the 75th Hunger Games which changes things forever... What possibly could President Snow do to Katniss and Peeta that they haven't been through.

The main character is Katniss Everdeen is played by Jennifer Laurence. She is a hit in this movie and she did a great job of bringing the character back to life. Her development is just incredible and I loved her relationship with Gale and Peeta.

The other main character is Peeta Mellark is played Josh Hutcherson. I liked the way they handled his character in this movie. I liked his development from the previous movie but there was just something about him that I liked about him more in this movie than the first one in the series. I loved his relationship with Katniss in this movie!

Then we move onto the other characters in the movie. The first one is Gale (played by Liam Hensworth), who I don't like. There is something I just don't like about the character. I like his relationship with Katniss and I did enjoy the small amount of time he had in the movie but there was something I didn't really like about him in the movie. The next characters are Haymitch and Effie. I loved both of their roles in this movie and I loved it better then the first one in the series. Both of them seem to show more emotion and at the same time passion for Peeta and Katniss. Elizabeth Banks who plays Effie I just love! Her acting skills is great and I can not wait to see more of her in the next movie in the series! Woody Harrelson who plays Haymitch is brilliant! Just like Elizabeth both actors upped their game in this movie.

There were a lot of new characters from the 2009 book, Catching Fire. I haven't seen a character yet that has stood out the most yet but I can't wait to see the ones who survived in the next instalment in the series.

In the movie there was a lot of action sequences especially when the games began. I loved how they brought the clock alive and I loved how horrible each hour was. I especially loved the mist scene and I loved how they did Mags's death, it was excellent, even though I did want to see more of her. Speaking about deaths, I love how they did Cinna's death even though during the movie I didn't know he died. The emotion in Katniss's character was done very well in that scene and I loved the build up to it.

Overall I had no problems with the movie apart from the very ending which I didn't really like all. The reason being is that throughout the movie it was action packed and them at the very end it was quite boring and dull!

The rating: 4.5 out of 5!
